  • Ca. 1850.
  • Old gray paint, minor restoration.
  • 6' long and 15" wide.



    Two-Door Cupboard

  • Features outstanding blue paint.
  • Some paint restoration to the top and minor molding restoration to one side.
  • Ca. 1880.
  • Dimensions: 371/2"W x 16"D x 25"H.


   Folk Art Animal Menagerie

  • Seven carved animals, including a lion, giraffe, hippopotamus, elephant, and three others I'll let you identify.
  • Carved in the 1970s in central Wisconsin.

    Norwegian Tina

  • Original red paint with scratched and impressed decoration visible under the paint.
  • Locally found. Norwegian immigrants to the Midwest primarily brought small items—things that could be easily carried on ships—rather than furniture when they immigrated. These boxes carried their small valuables,
  • Ca. 1870.
  • Dimensions: 83/8"L x 43/4"W x 31/2"H.



    Hanging Salt Box

  • Swedish, red and black grained hanging salt box.
  • Old lid repair and side crack (see photo).
  • Ca. 1890.
  • Dimensions: 81/2"H x 61/4"W x 5 5/8"D.



    Cherry Pencil Box
  • Square nailed, original varnish finish.
  • Ca. 19th century.
  • Dimensions: 8"L x 31/2"W x 25/8"H.

rwegian Tina
  • A Norwegian valuables box, locally found.
  • By 1890 50% of the Norwegian population had immigrated to the United States because of a potato famine and a significant number settled in the Midwest.
  • Original brown paint; pegged and birch root sewing.
  • Ca. 1870.
  • Dimensions: 10"L x 51/2"W x 41/8"H.



    Pine Needle Basket
  • I'm not usually impressed by pine needle baskets, but this one is larger and better than most—probably a sewing basket.
  • Thread/yarn decoration of flowers and leaves now faded with age (see interior photo for original color).
  • Wear commensurate with age.
  • Ca. early 20th century.
  • Dimensions: 15"L x 14"W x 51/4"H.



    Santee Sioux Pipe Bag
  • Pipe bag from a private museum; the label reads "Santee Sioux pipe bag with classic Santee design."
  • Decorative tin cones and fringe.
  • Beaded closure.
  • Brain tanned deerskin
  • Probably Minnesota or Dakotas
  • Dimensions: 24"L (including 8" fringe) x 51/2"W.



    Indian Beaded Gauntlets
  • Vintage pair of Indian beaded gauntlets.
  • Ca. 1930s.
  • Machine sewn, unused condition.
  • Red spot with slight abrasion on right glove (see photo).
