German-American Immigrant Desk
When practical items like tables and cupboards were the priority, few immigrants had desks.
This 1870 walnut desk is a rare survivor of the immigrant era and was found in Minnesota. I have included a photo of the desk during its restoration. As is the case with much immigrant furniture, it was relegated to barns and out-buildings and was in need of restoration. The drawer runners and drawer bottoms were rebuilt due to the wear that resulted from more than 140 years of use.
Dimensions: 40" W x 19"D x 45" H
Price: $895
Early Midwest Immigrant Armchair
Most early immigrant chairs were simple plank seat side chairs, so it's rare to find an armchair--much less one with its original green paint.
The seat has been replaced with splint, which is probably what it originally had and is comfortable to sit on.
Dimensions: 32" H x 21" W x 17" D; height to seat 171/2"
Price: $295.
